While various groups of people around the world are raising awareness on ways to decrease the amount of waste as well as waste management, we still hear terrible news from the ocean with losses that are caused by waste. Hence, the issue of waste has not yet been solved. Without the cooperation from all sectors to manage this problem, merely changing the mindset of people may not be sufficient to tackle this enormous issue.

Today, SCG is determined to promote a systematic way to manage waste as well as promote behavioral changes in the way we manufacture and consume in line with circular economy. Thus, SCG has compiled and published various lessons from successful communities in the book “Waste to Wealth: Generating Income from Waste” which details the way of thinking, steps to waste management, and problem-solving skills in line with circular economy from 12 groups, from communities including markets, temples, private groups, and educational institutions. The key to their success is the determination of their leaders, the learning process, and the cooperation of everyone in the group, resulting in sustainable changes when waste is managed and their quality of life is improved.
