A Joint Effort to Solve Waste Problems

All our daily activities inevitably lead to waste generation.Today, “waste”is no longer a distant problem but has alarming direct impacts on all of us- at individual, societal, and national levels. Waste has contributed to a vast array of problems that affect everyone’s well-being, ranging from floods induced by solid waste clogging in the drainage system, escalating water pollution, global temperature rise, air pollution, and emerging infectious diseases. VibhavadiRangsit Road provides an encouraging starting point for action, being ahighly populated area, with a large concentration of major corporateoffices whose employees and visitors are engaged in many activities leading to waste creation. Beyond individual responsibilities, would it not be better if the various companies were to join forces in driving positive impact on a larger scale together and also effectively measuring the results of these common efforts



Evidence is Key to Successful Implementation

“Vibhavadi Zero Waste” is a collaborative effort led by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Thailand Responsible Business Network (TRBN) with the conviction that the companies along Vibhavadi Road are able to forge synergy on effective waste and resource management, whichwould significantly reduce negative impact and increase positive impact on the environment along Vibhavadi Road are able to forge synergy on effective waste and resource management, whichwould significantly reduce negative impact and increase positive impact on the environment Thirty-two companies have joined hands efficient waste management through the 3R model: “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle to increase recycling rates, reduce waste to landfill,and lower greenhouse gas emissions. To assist with these goals,GEPP Sa-Ard companyhas helped with waste management training as well asa digital-based data management platform to collect and analyze data. Data is key to monitoring progress and anticipating trends and motivating project members as well as identifying challenges and opportunities for improvement





Zero-Waste Road Model

Now, members of the “Vibhavadi Zero Waste” project have embraced shared values, contributing to good governance andalong with social and environmental responsibility in line with growing global trends in which stakeholders and investors no are longer only motivated by economic profits alone Importantly, internal waste management practices have started to improve through shaping behavior at the individual level. “Vibhavadi Zero Waste”continues to set higher goals on waste management and recycling, seeking out new modelsand innovation as well as enlarging partnerships. More companies are interested in applying the model to promote circular economy practices amongst their businesses. In addition, partners such as AIS has helped to introduced an e-waste collection campaign while SCGP Paper X has introduced a paper recycling initiative amongst Vibhavadi members. Furthermore, members are looking to reach out waste management good practices to surrounding communities (homes, temples, schools) These collaborative efforts are aimed at a common goal a cleaner, greener “zero waste to landfill” road to serve as an example for other roads in future.
