Putting Goals to Action: SCGC and ESG Integration

Amid societal challenges and environmental crises, SCGC Chemicals or SCGC recognizes the significance of such global issues that require urgent attention. And as a leader in integrated chemical business in the region, SCGC has established business practices that contribute to the sustainability of society and the planet.

Set concrete ESG goals

SCGC strives to become the leading chemical business in ASEAN that drives business growth while fostering sustainability and stewardship of the environment, society, and corporate governance following ESG principles (Environmental, Social, and Governance). We are committed to achieving resource efficiency based on circular economy principles while reducing environmental impacts. Efforts are made by developing green innovations that fulfill low carbon needs through the application of technology and digital systems to reduce resource and energy consumption in the production process. In addition, a management system has been implemented to enhance safety and prevent potentially adverse effects on health, the environment, and society. In addition, it provides opportunities for all stakeholders to participate in the action with transparency and accountability, emphasizing equitable treatment and ensuring that plants and nearby communities can coexist and grow sustainably together. Collaborate and establish partnerships across all sectors

Over the span of 40 years of operation, SCGC has driven modeling efforts that foster business sustainability, community development, environmental conservation, and sector engagement. Here are notable examples of model initiatives:

  • Plant-Cultivate-Protect Campaign. SCGC has partnered with the government, civil society, and related sectors, as well as volunteer workers, to plant one million trees by planting mangrove and terrestrial forests and cultivating seedlings for distribution in scarce areas. The campaign also plants seeds in people’s hearts with the concept of people preserving the forest and vice versa, working toward a low-carbon society following the country’s mission. The project aims at attaining carbon neutrality by 2050, with the “Low Carbon, Low Waste” strategy aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% of the base year 2021 by 2030.
  • International Coastal Cleanup. SCGC promotes collaboration between businesses and civil society in upstream–to–downstream marine debris management to reduce the problem of marine waste and help restore coastal ecosystems. Furthermore, it promotes the recycling of resources to generate values based on the circular economy and the development of recycling technologies to reuse used plastics. This results in a sustainable solution to mitigating global warming.

  • Song Sarng Song Keb Model. The water crisis is one of the environmental issues we face every year, impacting the livelihood and ecosystem. SCGC has collaborated with the community for over a decade to develop concepts and models that encourage communities to manage their water sustainably through local wisdom, data management, and innovation. This is to transform a water-scarce area into one with abundant water and prevent flood crises while simultaneously enhancing the quality of life and sustainably empowering the people.
  • Map Ta Phut Municipal Park. The park is situated on 14 rai and 3 ngaan of land (equivalent to 23,600 square meters). To add more green space to the community, the municipality has planted more than 3,000 trees in the park, creating a new lung for the community. The park will also serve as a hub for health-conscious people and a venue for community-based activities. Furthermore, the park will serve as a center for health-conscious people and a venue for community-based activities. SCGC will continue to develop a holistic waste sorting process based on circular economy principles to foster a low-carbon society.

The clear ESG goals of SCGC have resulted in a range of model initiatives centered on the stewardship of the environment, society, and governance, as well as the promotion of sustainable growth. SCGC will continue to drive more engaging ESG projects in the future to serve society and provide a healthy environment for the generations to come.
